Observed near Mweiga, Nyeri County, Kenya, December 2015.
The colony entrances are at ground level with a turret of soil apparently offering some protection against storm water flooding in. There were several open vertical shafts in close proximity each with a gathering of workers and soldiers at the entrances which were about 2 to 4 cm in diameter. Bits of grass and other cellulose are carried deep underground.
