At lights, Kakamega Forest, Kenya, Oct. 2016.

Beauty, at least for Giant Silk Moths, is very fleeting. As adult night-flying moths they don't live long. Once mating and the laying of eggs is complete, a few weeks at most, the wings are tattered and the fat reserves exhausted. They are very popular with collectors, but now photographers find that a beautiful image can last indefinitely.
