Coeliades forestan |
|
Observed at Iten, Kenya, January 2012. |
Several species of Coeliades skippers are found on the African continent. They are thick bodied and often have bold marks of yellow and/or white. Their flight is rapid and strong. This one is likely the Striped Policeman, Coeliades forestan. Many lepidoptera feed in the larval stage on a few related plants, however, Coeliades is able to feed on a wide variety of unrelated plants. Hesperiidae -- Skipper Butterfly FamilyMore Information: |
