I found many adults of these brown plant hoppers on trunks of Fever Trees
growing at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi. Their color matched closely the brown
blotches on the expanses of yellow-green bark. They moved quickly when
approached and did not seem keen on jumping. Approaching with my camera was a
challenge. Only on close inspection of the tree trunks did their abundance
become apparent. Fever trees often have copious sap resin on the trunks - it
would be interesting to discover how these bugs avoid getting trapped.
Immature cixiid plant hoppers feed mostly on the roots of plants below ground.
Working out the exact host plant relationships and life history would be
tedious.
