Cerapterus |

A nocturnal insect in Kapenguria, Kenya. July 2014. Length about 9mm. |
Without the help of M.Geiser I would not have had a clue as to the taxonomic placement of this beetle. Enlarged pectinate antennae and the fringes on the legs make this a very unique insect. I've been told that these beetles are associated with ant nests where the larvae/adults are inquilines. Carabidae (Paussinae) -- Ground Beetle FamilyMore Information: |
