This grasshopper would be well hidden when alighted in tall grass. Menangai Crater, March, 2013. Length, excluding the antennae, is about 50 mm. |
The long slanted face and the flattened wedge-shaped antennae serve to distinguish this group of grasshoppers. In addition they lack stidulatory pegs on the legs and so do not make sounds like most grasshoppers. Acrididae -- Grasshopper FamilyMore Information: |
