HERBACEOUS PLANT: An upright to partly decumbent herbaceous plant with several stems. The stems have longitudinal ridges. Mostly less than 1 m.

FLOWERS: The small green flowers are arrayed in evenly spaced clusters along a slender spike.

LEAVES: Leaves are broadly lance-shaped.

RANGE: This plant is reported in areas from West ot East Africa.

FRUIT: Soon after flowering the seeds develop a margin of hooked appendages.

UNARMED.
