Aeollanthus repens (?)

Growing from cracks in rock outcrop at Wundanyi, Taita Hills, Kenya. 29 May 2017.

LEAVES: The opposite leaves are obovate, crenate at tip, and fleshy-succulent. crenate margins.

SUCCULENT: Lower stems and spreading root stock are perennial and tougher. Stems were densly clustered and about 40cm tall.

FLOWERS: The flowers are arranged several per node on an upright spike. Each flower is bilaterally symmetric; color is pale purple/lavender.

RANGE: Several species of Aeolanthus recorded in Kenya.

FRUIT:

UNARMED.
