LEAVES: The opposite leaves are triangular to ovate, thick, leathery and with prominent impressed veins on upper surface. The margins have blunt serrations and both surfaces are covered with long hairs.

SHRUBBY: Herbaceous growth from woody lower portion; the stems are angled and densely covered with long, brownish hairs. Plants were mostly about 1 to 1½ meters tall.

FLOWERS: The flowers are arranged in rings about an upright spike. Each flower is bilaterally symmetric with a distinct dorsal spur. White flowers are subtended by bracts with a lavender-brown cast.
