This popular shade and ornamental tree from North America has been introduced to highland areas of Kenya where rainfall and temperatures are favorable for its rapid growth. I have not determined if this tree is becoming naturalized, i.e. if it is reproducing and becoming established in the environment. Obati et al. (2009: Proceedings of the 4th KEFRI Scientific Conference) report that the trees can be parasitized by mistletoe species in Kenya. Oleaceae -- Olive FamilyMore Information: |
