Among savanna ground-cover plants, Kiserian, Kenya, Africa. October 2016. |
The herbaceous stems grow along the ground occasionally clambering over other plants and spreading out. A boat-shaped bract encloses one or a few flowers which open usually one at a time and remain open only a short time, exceptionally for a full day. Two of the three yellow petals, looking like mouse-ears, are on very long slender claws. The third petal is very small. Commelinaceae -- Spiderwort FamilyMore Information: |
