  • Mostly herbaceous stems grow vine-like, trailing close to the soil amid heavy grazing pressure.
  • Ray Flowers: No ray flowers.
  • Disc Flowers: All the florets are five-lobed and dark purple. The stamens produce white pollen.
  • Phyllaries: A single rank of bracts enclose the florets in the head.
  • Pappus:
  • Leaves: The leaves have short petioles and are deltoid in shape.
