Leaves entirely in basal rosette. Inflorescence on a tall peduncle. Growing in low turf at a roadside, Wundanyi, Kenya. May 2017.

  • Ray Flowers: ALL of the florets are bright yellow, strap-shaped rays.
  • Disc Flowers: no true disc florets.
  • Phyllaries: tall phyllaries enclose the florets and close even tighter as the seeds develop.
  • Pappus: group of hyaline pales that dry and split into fine filaments.
  • Leaves: The simple leaves elliptic with large teeth that are without spines or prickles.
