Observed in a garden plot near Kapenguria, Kenya. July 2014. |
This pear-shaped fruit native to the Americas is grown in cooler, higher rainfall areas of Kenya. The flesh of the fruit suggests a kind of custard. Embedded there are a number of hard, black seeds. Fruit bats and other native wildlife have also taken a liking for the sweet and nutritious fruit. Annonaceae -- Custard Apple FamilyMore Information: |
