Nicholson's Spiderwort
Aneilema nicholsonii
In very moist habitat alongside a road through Mt. Kenya Forest Reserve, Kirinyaga County, Kenya. 01 June 2017.
The unopened flower buds are shiny and conspicuous with dark purple pigment. Flowers are many in a compact, nearly head-like spike. Open flowers have two large, prominent petals and one smaller paler one.
