Rather small bird with extensive pale gray on chest, back, and crown. A black bar extends from base of bill, through the eye and around to nape. There is a distinct brick-red chin patch. The back and wings are olive-green. The bill is moderately stout, dark, and slightly curved towards the end. Inhabits moist woods and brush in much of western Kenya.
